As we looked into different options for a more comfortable ring, several came up in regards to silicone wedding rings. What an amazing idea! Vy went ahead and purchased my ring from Groovelife and another one from another company. I have to say, Groovelife silicone ring is by far my favorite. With my silicone ring, I barely even know that I have it on half the time! It weighs practically nothing and is it amazingly comfortable. My metal ring has had a permanent spot in my nightstand ever since I got my Groovelife silicone ring. Not only are these great for photography, but they are amazing for anyone that loves adventure or works with their hands. I have heard about really gross stuff happening when rock climbers metal rings get stuck in the ropes. I would hate to see that happen to any of you.
A little history about Groovelife. It was born out of a need by Peter Goodwin, Alaskan adventure guide and lodge owner. “I needed a ring that would stand up to a harsh working environment, keep my finger safe, and one that didn’t sweat and get clammy,” Peter exclaims. Peter had tried other “active rings” on the market but they were too bulky, terribly uncomfortable, and didn’t handle well under tough conditions.
After the 2014 guiding season was over, Peter went to work figuring out how to make the ultimate ring for active enthusiasts. “My mission is to make products that function in my lifestyle as an Alaskan guide. If they can pass the “Alaska” test they can pass any test.” Groove pioneered breathability in their innovative new ring that launched on Kickstarter.com in December 2015. “We designed grooves in the ring that keeps air moving under the ring which eliminates the clammy finger problem. This was the biggest problem with current designs in the marketplace and we solved it,” says Peter. In January 2018 Peter moved the company from Alaska to Spring Hill, Tn. In just a few short months the company has grown by leaps and bounds.
Since moving, Groove has launched the Mossy Oak and Kryptek licensed water camo rings, the Aspire collection for women and will launch the NCAA licensed collegiate rings for more than 55 schools on June 18th. One of the awesome things about Groove’s design is the very appropriately named grooves that are cut into the inside of the ring. They allow air to get in there. My first silicone ring did not have said “grooves”, and when I would take my ring off at the end of the day, I had a creepy zombie looking white circle around my finger. It smelled kinda funky! They are also hypoallergenic, so you don’t have to worry about any kind of allergic reaction. If you live someplace that gets either really hot or freezing cold, you don’t have to worry about a metal ring burning or freezing your finger. I loved mine so much, that we ordered one for Vy too. She wears it more than her bling-bling ring!

I decided on a black ring with orange lining, that looks pretty much identical with my real metal wedding ring. Vy went with a really cool turquoise color ring. As mentioned above, they are amazing for adventuring. You don’t have to worry about scratching them up, losing diamonds or even losing the whole ring altogether.
We recently visited Crater of the Moon National Park in Idaho. There are all sorts of lava tubes and lava rocks everywhere. There is some climbing involved if you want to explore the tunnels. The lava rock would wreck a fancy ring. My Groovelife silicone ring came out of it completely unscathed! It can also come in handy if you are traveling abroad and don’t want to worry about being targeted for having super fancy jewelry. They also float! My ring slipped off on a cliff jump in Lake Tahoe, and next thing I knew, it floated up to the surface right next to me. Reunited and it feels so good!
